Becky Muth and RA Muth

Me at Six Flags Over New Jersey, circa 2000

Hi. I'm Becky, and I write a lot.

Outlining was always the most challenging part of writing for me. Some authors take to outlining like ducks to water. Others write their books straight through from start to finish without knowing what's going to happen from one chapter to the next until they put words on the page.

And there are authors like me. Those who would start an outline, which was more or less a list of half-baked ideas, stick to it for a few chapters, get confused about what an outline really is, and then write the rest of the book by the seat of their pants. It worked, kind of, and I'd publish a book or two each year, if I was lucky.

Along the way, something in my brain unlocked. Once I have a full outline, I can write the whole book. Now I'm writing faster than ever. While I do use AI for some elements of my book covers, the writing is 100% me at my desk, hands on my keyboard, and a 20 ounce mug of coffee nearby.

Below are the book covers I've created for which I plan to write. Some are covers I've purchased from other designers. If you've found this page, email me at author@beckymuth.com to let me know!

These books are on my list of what to write.
Which book or series would you like to see next?

Courtside Crimes: Murder on the Pickleball Court

Bailey Baxter has never held a pickleball paddle in her life. She’s just here for the dog.

Rory is a scrappy, snarky Scottish Terrier and the official mascot of the Myrtle Beach Mashers — a retiree pickleball team with serious game and zero chill. Bailey’s job is simple: keep Rory fed, groomed, and out of trouble while the Mashers compete in the South Carolina State Championship.

Simple. Until someone turns up dead on the court.

After a head-first tumble onto the pickleball court, Bailey discovers she can understand every word Rory says — in a thick Scottish accent and with absolutely no filter. He’s opinionated. He’s relentless. And he’s pretty sure he knows who did it.

Together, this accidental duo is about to find out that in pickleball — and in murder — it’s never over until the last shot.

Fiona Foster: A Witty Kitchen Witch Mystery Series

Fiona Foster has a gift. She just doesn’t like to talk about it.

As a kitchen witch with a direct line to her late mother-in-law, Fiona has spent years hiding what she can do — from her family, from her neighbors, and from anyone who might expect her to actually cook dinner. Alice Foster may be dead, but she has never once let that stop her from having opinions, and she dispenses wisdom the way she always did — reluctantly, in pieces, and usually at the worst possible moment.

Together — not that either of them would call it that — Fiona and Alice have a way of stumbling into trouble. The kind of trouble that involves dead bodies, badly kept secrets, and the particular chaos that follows when a kitchen witch would rather order takeout than solve a murder. But here they are. Again.

The Fiona Foster series is a warm, witty, and slightly haunted collection of cozy paranormal mysteries for anyone who has ever had a complicated relationship with a woman who knew entirely too much and wasn’t quite done sharing it.

The Moose Ridge Mysteries: An Unputdownable, Hilarious Series with a Talking Moose and a Dolly Parton Obsessed Cat

A viral stunt ended my career on the South Carolina coast. I fled halfway across the country to escape my reputation. Now I’m the social media director for Maya the Moose, star of the Moose Ridge Petting Zoo. Thanks to a string of crimes, I’m also an accidental detective with a talking cat playing Watson to my Sherlock. I thought life in the Palmetto State was filled with oddities, but it’s nothing compared to the weirdness in Big Sky Country.

Three murders in, I’m starting to think Moose Ridge has other plans. But as long as I keep from going viral a second time, this gig might just work out.

The Witch Hazel Series: A Haunted Housekeeping Spinoff

I’m Hazel, and you might recognize me from my friend Tori’s adventures. When Mrs. Benefield retires to Florida to live with her sister, she asks me to move into her home and keep an eye on things. She even agreed to let me have a dog.

But when the queen of our cul-de-sac ends up unalived on my new front lawn, my police officer brother accuses me of the crime. He doesn’t care that I have a solid alibi or that I threatened to tattle to our mother, who is the only person who can get him to listen to reason.

The good news is that I have witnesses who can support my alibi. The bad news? They’re the lawn gnomes I used to replace the plants I’ve killed in the front yard. And if I can’t find a way out of this mess, my brother will put me behind bars and take my dog right back to the pound where I adopted him.

The Level Up Series: Granny's VR Sleuthing Adventures

When Granny got a VR set, she planned to use it for keeping in touch with her teenage grandson, who moved across the country with his dad. She never expected to find a game based on her favorite mystery-themed television program. Creating a character was easy, but she can’t leave the game until she solves the crime.

With a band of misfit friends she makes along the way, can Granny solve the mystery and return to real life in time for bingo, or will she be stuck in VR forever?

The Mugsy's Cat Cafe Series: Cozy Mysteries with Crime, Coffee, and Cat Hair

Mugsy lives at the Cat Cafe, a coffee shop where patrons can enjoy their favorite beverages while petting the resident cats. What might feel like a simple small business plan soon turns deadly. If Mugsy can’t help solve the crimes, the business will have to close for good. And the cats? They’re off to the nearest shelter.

The Mercy Swamp Mystery Series: Southern Small Town Crimes

Ellie-Jane’s up to her ears in drama at home with two younger sisters and their widowed mother. As the owner of a small art gallery in town, she just wants to keep her daddy’s memory alive by showcasing his watercolors. Mix in murder, mayhem, and men who could have walked straight out of a Jane Austen novel, and this poor small business owner might never get a moment’s peace. But with her best friend at her side and her dog Pemberley, who shares his opinions with Ellie-Jane through the power of canine telepathy, she might just be okay.

The Carolina Crimes Cozy Mystery Series

Magic, mysteries, and a whole lot of Palmetto State paranormal strangeness.

Carolina Crimes Cozy Mysteries is a collection of standalone paranormal cozies set where the Spanish moss hangs heavy and the secrets run deep. These standalone books take you through tales with strange, supernatural, and surprisingly deadly plots — one small town at a time. Whether it’s a tax collector with a talking crow or a fairy apothecary accused of murder, one thing is certain about these quirky characters and their paranormal sidekicks. Nothing is ever quite what it seems.
