Did you know August is National Picnic Month? I found the above photo while looking for picnic stuff to add to the LOVE’S SILVER LINING Pinterest board. Although Sweet Grove, Texas is nowhere near the ocean (and, sadly, neither am I), this photo is my idea of the perfect picnic.
I didn’t really appreciate picnics until I met my in-laws. They live in a suburb of Washington, D.C. Despite being so close to the city, there’s a regional park not far from their house and their home has the most gorgeous patio. Our family has spent many an evening dining al fresco together.
In LOVE’S SILVER LINING, Tucker and Caroline Mason’s picnic takes a dire turn. He confesses something and although she doesn’t take it well, she’s still calmer than most people would be. As she tells her new friend Emma, she can forgive her husband but it would be a long time before she would be able to forget it. It’s kind of how love works in real life if you think about it.
While writing this book, I wasn’t expecting to feel so close to the characters. Sweet Grove feels like such a real town that by the time I was finished, I was ready to pack up and move there!
